Refinishing your basement

There are few renovations that can add living space to your home more efficiently or more quickly than remodeling your basement. During this process, it’s crucial to consider improving air quality, which is why we recommend using a uv air purifier. We have recently completed two remodeling projects in the basement level of two homes, and our customers are thrilled with the results, especially the enhanced air quality. For such projects, skip hire services can also make the renovation process smoother and more efficient. If you want to install custom cabinets or shelving systems in your basement, you may seek the services of a Closet Company in Scranton, PA.

As a first step toward a more responsible building program, municipalities and builders are providing incentives to decrease trash and practice greater recycling. Instead of worrying about handling construction or remodeling rubbish, homeowners may choose to handle the garbage themselves or engage a professional service from Ridly’s rubbish removal experts. This will free them up to focus on the makeover. Additionally, refurbishing bathrooms can also significantly enhance your home’s appeal and functionality. Wall types and finishes – the most common method of refinishing a basement is to add a stud wall on the inside of the foundation. Typically, a pressure treated 2×4 is attached to the floor which acts as the bottom plate for the wall assembly. A top plate of 2×4 KD (Kiln Dried) is installed along the ceiling joists, and the studs are installed between these two plates to form the skeleton of the wall system.

Once the wall framing is complete, the plumbers and electricians go to work installing the plugs and any plumbing components called for in the plan.  At this point, your town building inspector can be called to inspect the ‘rough’ elements of the project.

Insulation and sound proofing  – Typically, we use an insulation product called Roxul which offers good sound protection as well as insulating value.  In some installations, more soundproofing is desired which we achieve using a MVL (massive loaded vinyl) sheet vinly technology. This is a very heavy vinyl sheet product (about 1/8″ thick) which provided the sound deadening characteristics 12″ of concrete. Additionally, integrating a commercial kitchen extractor fan ensures adequate ventilation and air quality in the refurbished area.
